BANGALORE: Whenever there are riots in Bangalore, glass buildings bear the brunt of the attack.

Even during bomb explosions, thousands of sharp pieces of glass penetrates and injure many, than the explosion. But, here is a ray of hope.

Zenas Solutions ACE Security Laminates from Canada, which can convert ordinary glass into UV protected, fire, bullet and bomb resistant glass, are now available in Bangalore.

Ever since Bangalore has evolved into a soft target from the Terrorist groups for it's IT value, people of Bangalore, especially IT establishments and BPO buildings have raised their security measures. The new lamination could add value to the security systems that are being installed by many in the City.

Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Girish Ramdas, Managing Director of GNG Associates, the official distributors of security lamination sheets for South India, said that high-tech City like Bangalore should be geared for the future and protection.

“Anything that is glass that can be made stronger by adding laminates. The laminates can be used in houses, banks, commercial buildings, hospitals, hotels and cars,'' he said.

Interestingly, in Tamil Nadu most of the orders of laminates are coming from single ladies who drive more than 20 kms from office to home. The tests have proved that even 50 shots from a hockey stick cannot break through the laminate glass.

“Compared to bullet-proof glasses which are used by VVIP cars, cost around Rs 7,000 per sq feet, where as the ACE laminates cost about Rs 700 per sq feet. An Ambassador car can be made ready for Rs 30,000'', he added.

The Prime Minister's house in New Delhi, Delhi Chief Minister Chamber and Government of Tamil Nadu have already placed orders for this product.

Recently, the manufacturing unit demonstrated it to the Bangalore Police. The police officers have fired and tested the toughness of the glass laminated.
